Kevin Oatis of Hattiesburg (Miss.) is one of the nation’s top defensive line prospects for the Class of 2025, and the 6-2, 285-pound lineman was one of 13 official visitors on Arkansas’ campus (VIP) over the weekend.

Oatis has been on the Hogs’ wish list for well almost a year-and-a-half, as defensive line coach Deke Adams officially joined his scholarship offer list in January of 2023 and received an early unofficial visit, but this weekend was his first opportunity check out what Northwest Arkansas has to offer.

“It was good, I love it down here,” Oatis said. “It was everything I could imagine. I love the environment. I love the coaches, love the staff. Love the players. Love everything about it.

It was just all the coaching staff being so cool to my family. I’m a family man and they treat my family like their own family.”

The home state Mississippi State Bulldogs own both Crystal Ball predictions logged for Oatis so far and will get him on campus for an official visit later this month, and there’s a trip to USC scheduled for next weekend, but Arkansas made a strong impression during his 48-hour stay.

They’re high, they’re high,” Oatis said. “There’s only a certain amount of schools like that I really like at this moment, but Arkansas is like high, at the top.”

Adams is a big reason why the Hogs are still hanging around for the nation’s 26th overall defensive line prospect.
