According to David Ornstein, Manchester City and Newcastle United have reached an agreement for

the permanent transfer of highly rated midfield talent Alfie Harrison.

Harrison joined Manchester City’s academy project at the age of nine,

and his technical aptitude and passing skillset helped him move through the club’s age groups before receiving a scholarship in 2022.

After making a remarkable 21 appearances for Manchester City’s under-18s squad in 2022/23,

scoring six goals and giving four assists, he continued with the age group for the current 2023/24 season.

However, despite participating in first-team training sessions at various times of the current season,

it appears that the prospect of consistent first-team football in the not-too-distant future has been pivotal in the player’s career path consideration.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Newcastle United has reached an agreement with

Premier League winners Manchester City to recruit highly-rated midfield prodigy Alfie Harrison for a ‘undisclosed amount’.

The 18-year-old is scheduled to undertake a medical with Newcastle in the coming days before completing the projected move on a long-term contract.

Ornstein also discloses that Newcastle’s pursuit of Harrison was led by Paul Midgley,

who joined the north-east giants from Manchester City in 2022 as ‘head of young recruitment’ and focused

the club’s pitch on the teenager’s clear path to first-team involvement.

Alfie Harrison is said to have transitioned well into Manchester City’s first-team training sessions,

Harrison’s performance in the under-18 Premier League this season has been nothing short of spectacular,

demonstrating the talent that Newcastle United has secured by signing the teenager for the future.

In eight appearances for Manchester City in the tournament,

Alfie Harrison has scored eight goals from his central midfield position, while also providing four assists.

Elsewhere, Manchester City and River Plate are nearing an agreement to sign Claudio Echeverri,

an Argentina under-17 talent who is anticipated to remain at his present club on loan until the winter of 2024.
